Understand the dog in front of you.

Discover what makes your dog uniquely themselves and what that means for your life together.

The Honored Dog Personality Guides help you look beyond everyday behaviors to better understand your dog, reflect on your expectations, and build a more connected relationship.

You love your dog. Now you have a language around those emotions.

Why do they need to greet everyone? Take charge of every situation? Have such strong opinions about the smallest things?

When your dog approaches life differently than you expected, it can leave you wondering what you’re missing. Understanding their personality gives you another way to see what’s happening and be intentional with how you respond.

Without that understanding, the same moments tend to repeat. The pulling on walks, the barking at the door, and the standoff at bedtime start to feel personal. Frustration builds on both ends of the leash, and the relationship you pictured stays just out of reach.

Go beyond your dog’s quiz result.

Your dog’s profile is a starting point. Their Personality Guide invites you to explore how those traits show up in your everyday life together.

Through insights and reflection, you’ll get to know your dog more deeply, recognize where your expectations meet their individuality, and find opportunities for connection.

Whether you access your printed or digital guide, you will find the following inside:

  • Who They Are: You get a portrait of the profile, quirks included.
  • What Motivates Them: You learn what gets your dog moving and what doesn’t.
  • What Fulfills Them: You see the kind of day that leaves your dog settled.
  • When Stress Hits: You learn what stress can look like in your dog and what to do when it shows up.
  • Thriving: You describe your dog at their best, in your own words.
  • Your Relationship: You look at how your dog shows up for you and what you want more of.
  • A Letter to Your Dog: The last page is yours to write.

Kimberly Jo DeVault – Humane Educator, Facilitator, & Coach

Meet Kimberly

Kimberly knows what it is like to love a dog and still feel puzzled by them. She has raised four West Highland Terriers since 2005. They share a breed and very little else, and each one challenged what she expected.

Kimberly began her career at the Arizona Humane Society, first in Intake and Receiving, where she met thousands of animals entering the shelter system. As Education Coordinator, she developed and delivered humane-education programs for children and adults, including Animals Across the Curriculum, a four-week program taught in schools across Maricopa County. Her work was later adopted into Arizona’s statewide Reading Program.

She went on to spend 20 years as an Agile Coach, corporate trainer, and instructional designer for Fortune 500 organizations. There, she developed and delivered learning experiences and coached leaders and teams through complex change.

Each Honored Dog Personality Profile was inspired by one of Kimberly’s four West Highland Terriers. Each personality guide carries what she learned throughout her time with AHS and raising her own four-legged family members.
