What Discovery Looks Like
Discovery occurs after you bring your dog home, and into your world. It is when you begin noticing who your dog really is: their personality, preferences, quirks, and way of relating to the world.
At the same time, you may become more aware of the expectations you brought with you. Is your dog more active than you expected? Or more chill? Maybe they require more attention than you anticipated, or are more particular. This phase is about getting curious about the dog in front of you, seeing them for who they are, and beginning to understand what they need to feel known, supported, and at home in your shared life.

Explore the 5 stages a dog parent and their dog may go through together over the course of their relationship. Understanding this, you may find it easier to set realistic expectations and find more enjoyment in your relationship.
Discover the Honored Dog Profiles
Over time, your dog’s personality will reveal itself. After you have had your dog for 3 months or more, we invite you to take a fun quiz to learn your dog’s personality type. Will they be a Doggy Divas, Bossy Pants, Social Butterflies, or Goodest Boy or Girl?
Discover Together
Coming Soon! If you’ve recently welcomed a new dog into your home, you and your dog are discovering your relationship together. Guided reflection prompts help you navigate this change to your daily life and routines, and strengthen the bond between you and your new dog.
Discovery Workshop Details
Who did you imagine bringing home—and who are you getting to know?
This interactive workshop helps dog parents explore the transition from expectation to reality and understand where they are within The Honored Dog Journey.
During the workshop, you will:
- Reflect on the life you imagined with your dog.
- Recognize what you are discovering about them now.
- Understand why challenges can be a natural part of building a relationship.
- Identify what is already working—and what could work better.
- Envision the relationship you want to build and choose one step toward it.
You’ll leave with:
- Greater understanding and compassion for your dog.
- Reassurance that adjustment and change take time
- A clearer vision for the life you are creating together.
- One intentional next step for strengthening your relationship.

- Length Options: 2 hours
- Group size: 15-20
- Format: In person or virtual. (Either or, but not both at same time)
- Cost: $49
- Available for shelters, breeders, community groups, and dog-focused organizations
- Designed for people within the first year with their dog
