The Honored Dog Journey: Phase 2
Discovery Phase

Welcoming Them Home
In some ways, you’ve already met your dog in your imagination. You pictured the companionship you would share, how they would fit into your life, and the relationship you would build.
Now, you get to discover the individual dog in front of you: their personality, preferences, needs, and what makes them unmistakably themselves.
This is the Discovery phase of The Honored Dog Journey.
You’re Discovering Each Other
As you learn what helps your dog feel comfortable, excited, connected, or overwhelmed, your dog is learning about you, too.
They’re discovering your routines, your responses, and what it means to belong in your family.
Some discoveries will delight you. Others may surprise or challenge you. All of them are part of getting to know one another.
What are you beginning to notice?
- When does your dog seem happiest and most like themselves?
- What helps them feel safe and understood?
- What are they showing you that you didn’t expect?
You don’t need to have all the answers. Discovery begins with paying attention.

Personality gives you a place to begin.
Breed can offer clues about a dog’s traits, instincts, and needs. Personality helps you understand how the individual dog sharing your life experiences and responds to the world around them.
The Honored Dog Personality Profiles give you language for the patterns you’re already noticing, from what brings your dog joy to what helps them feel secure. With that understanding, you can respond more intentionally and make choices that support the relationship you’re building together.
Support for Your Discovery
The Honored Dog offers guides, workshops, and Relationship Sessions to help you understand what you’re discovering and use it to strengthen the relationship you’re building.
Because the more clearly you see your dog, the more deeply you can appreciate who they are
